Privacy Notice

What we hold, why we hold it, who can see it, and what you can make us do about it. Written plainly, because a privacy notice nobody can read protects nobody.

Who holds your data

Savvvana is a private, invite-only members’ network operating from Lagos, Nigeria. Savvvana is the data controller for the personal data described in this notice: we decide what is collected, why, and how long it is kept.

Questions, requests and complaints go to one address, and a person answers: hello@savvvana.com.

What we hold

What you give us when you join. Your full name, email address, phone number (the WhatsApp number you provide), the city you are based in, the day and month of your birthday, a short bio, a line about what you do, your company, your industry, the stage your business is at, and — if you choose to add them — a LinkedIn URL and a website.

We do not ask for the year you were born. Birthdays exist on this platform so the network can mark them, not so it can age you.

What you build here. Your nickname, your photo or wildlife avatar, your interests and what you say you can contribute, and whether your profile is visible in the directory.

What you do here. The asks and offers you post in the Watering Hole, the responses you write, the seeds members plant for you when you help them (and the note they leave), the reactions you add, the commercial offers or perks your company offers, any interest you register in the Collective, and the invitations you send.

What we record about your membership. Who invited you, when you joined, your membership status, your level, and an activity log that Sarabi uses (see section 05). Every change you make to your Sarabi consent settings is written to an append-only audit record — including the time it changed and what it changed to.

Why we hold it

We hold your data for six reasons, and no others:

  • To verify that you are the person who was invited, and to sign you in.
  • To place you in the member directory so other members can find you.
  • To run the Watering Hole — to attribute your asks and offers, and to route the responses back to you.
  • To record who helped whom, which is what the seed system is.
  • To send you the brief, service emails, and a note on your birthday.
  • To keep the network safe — to review what is posted, and to remove people who breach the Member Standards.

We do not sell your data. We do not rent it, trade it, or share it with advertisers. There is no advertising on Savvvana and there never will be. The commercial model of this network is membership, not attention.

Our lawful basis is your consent, given when you accepted the invitation and completed onboarding, together with the legitimate interest of running a members’ network that you asked to join. You can withdraw consent at any time — see section 06.

What other members can see

Savvvana is built on a deliberate decision: there is no member-to-member contact. There is no messaging, no introduction request, and no way to reach a member privately through this platform. Help moves through the Watering Hole, in the open.

Other members can never see your email address, your phone number, or your date of birth. Those fields are visible only to Savvvana administrators. This is enforced in the database itself, not just in the interface.

Other members can see: your name or nickname, your photo or avatar, your bio and the line about what you do, your company, your industry, the city you are in, your level and seed count, the interests and contributions you listed, the asks and offers you post, the commercial offers your company offers, and — if you added one — your LinkedIn link and your website.

If you would rather your LinkedIn or website were not on your member page, remove them in your profile — they are optional and always were.

You can also hide your profile from the directory entirely. Ask us and we will do it.

Sarabi and your consent tiers

Sarabi is the house concierge. She is built on Anthropic’s Claude, and she can read the platform’s own data — the directory, the open asks, the commercial offers — in order to answer you.

What she does with your data is under three switches, all of which live in your profile and all of which are on by default:

  • Introduction matching — lets Sarabi suggest introductions between you and other members based on complementary profiles and interests.
  • Ask & Offer matching — lets your profile be matched against open asks and offers so Sarabi can surface the ones that are relevant to you.
  • Care signals — lets Sarabi notice when you have been away for a while so we can check in. A gentle nudge, not surveillance.

Turn any of them off and Sarabi stops using your data for it, immediately. Every change is recorded, so there is always a record of what you agreed to and when.

What Sarabi never reads: your email address, your phone number, and any private admin note about you. Conversations you have with Sarabi are not shown to other members.

Your rights under the NDPA

Your data is processed in line with the Nigeria Data Protection Act (NDPA). Under it, you have the right to:

  • Access — ask for a copy of everything we hold about you.
  • Correction — have anything inaccurate fixed. Most of it you can fix yourself in your profile.
  • Deletion — ask us to erase your personal data.
  • Objection and restriction — object to a particular use of your data, or ask us to pause it.
  • Withdrawal of consent — turn off the Sarabi consent tiers at any time, or withdraw your consent to membership entirely by leaving.
  • Portability — receive your data in a form you can take elsewhere.
  • Complaint — take a complaint to the Nigeria Data Protection Commission if you believe we have got this wrong.

To exercise any of these, write to hello@savvvana.com. We will respond within 30 days.

How long we keep it

While you are a member, we keep your data for as long as your membership lasts — because a directory without your details is not a directory.

When you leave, your profile is removed from the directory and you can no longer be found by other members. Your member record is retained in an archived state so that the network’s own history stays intact — who was invited by whom, and who helped whom.

If you ask us to delete you,we will erase your personal data. Contributions that are part of another member’s record — a seed you planted for someone, a response you left on their ask — are retained without your name attached, because they belong to their story too.

Where it lives. Your data is stored and processed on servers in the European Union (Frankfurt), operated on our behalf by Supabase (database, sign-in and photo storage) and Vercel (the platform itself). Email is sent by Resend. Sarabi is powered by Anthropic. Each of these is a processor acting on our instructions, and none of them may use your data for their own purposes.

How to reach us

hello@savvvana.com.

A named human reads that address — not a form, not a ticket queue. If something about how this network handles your data does not sit right with you, say so, and you will get an answer from a person.
